You will notice that our board is more representative of the current state of academia than many. Yes, our board includes tenured faculty, but it also includes junior faculty, ECRs and contingent faculty off the tenure track, and academics working outside of teaching faculty. Our board serves as a vivid reminder that the tenured professor at an R1 with a long list of publications can no longer serve as avatar of our field, as many structures limit the ways in which most of us can publish, and where and how we can teach. In addition to a wide range of research specializations, our board includes many members with editing experience, including our (post)graduate copyediting team, furnishing an additional illustration of the ways in which academia too-often silently offloads labor onto junior and precarious members. Here at Medieval Leavings, we seek to dignify many kinds of expertise, both among our authors and among our editorial team.
Above all, this list always has room for more. If you’d like to serve on our board or copyedit for our experiment in humane scholarly publishing, contact us!
